Cumming, Georgia 

Forsyth County is known for its rural charm, clean neighborhoods, and impressive landscape stretching from the banks of the Chattahoochee River, up the shoreline of beautiful Lake Lanier, to the foothills of the scenic North Georgia mountains.  

Being one of the fastest growing counties in the Nation for several years, Forsyth County is an exciting place. The Recreational opportunities are expansive in Cumming as well. Parks such as Central Park, just off exit 17 on 400, have Soccer, Softball, Baseball, Tennis, a full Gymnasium with weight room, indoor basketball courts, and walking track. The Park also boasts a Disc Golf Course with 27 holes, a 5+ mile Mountain Biking Trail, and one of the largest "freeride parks," an extreme mountain biking park, and this is just one of many parks all around the County.  

A recent addition to Cumming's outdoor recreational areas is Sawnee Mountain Park. It is 725 acres, and its jewel is "The Indian Seats," a rock face atop Sawnee Mountain that is said to be the meeting place of Cherokee Indians. There are 3 miles of hiking trails, a 150 person amphitheatre, outdoor learning areas, and rockclimbing areas. The County is planning on expanding the park to over 1000 acres, which will make the County Park the largest in Geogia. 

There are many, many more outlets of recreation all over including world class golf courses, a 37,000 acre lake with the largest Poker Run in the South, great Trout and Bass fishing in the Chattahoochee River and Lake Lanier, ... the list never ends! 

Shopping in Cumming has also become very convenient. There is a Publix or Kroger every couple miles, and a wealth or restaurants strewn throughout the area. Just a few miles north of Cumming is the North Georgia Premium Outlets. There you can find premier stores such as Saks Fifth Ave, Ralph Lauren, Bose Store, and more! 

Whatever your home needs and intersts are, Cumming will welcome you with both arms. 

Alpharetta, Georgia 

FROM THE NORTH GEORGIA MOUNTAINS to the Chattahoochee River along a Cherokee Indian trail, a tiny village named New Prospect Camp Ground was formed. This village, made up of tents, a log school, and arbor became a trading post where Indians and white settlers exchanged their goods. The surrounding countryside provided excellent farming land, especially for cotton. On December 11, 1858, the town was chartered and became the county seat of Milton County. The town was renamed Alpharetta from the Greek words "alpha" meaning first and "retta" meaning town. In 1932, Milton County was merged into Fulton County.  

Alpharetta is just North of Cumming, and today it is one of the fastest growing communities in the South. Its environment is considered ideal for raising families and living a quality lifestyle free from the problems found in so many similar sized cities.  

Several of the Alpharetta schools are on the national schools of excellence list. There is a Georgia State University satellite location for graduate work, and many private schools. 

Alpharetta also has a vast housing market-from a $15 Million Estate to a $140,000 Townhome. East of Hwy 400 is a chapter of Alpharetta allowing for total convenience with loads of shopping, thousands of sqare feet of office space, as well as a number of national headquarters for major companies. On the west side of 400 you find a more rural feel and larger lots while still offering great convenience of shopping and restaurants. 

There are great recreational areas to be found in Alpharetta as well. There is a state of the art YMCA just off Windward Pkwy that markes the start of "The Greenway-" a 12 mile paved path with lots of vegetation and wildlife. Also to be found in the Parks system is one of the largest equestrian parks in the South, Wills Park. There are annual Rodeos, fireworks displays and more.

Canton, Georgia 

Located at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and along the banks of the Etowah River, the natural beauty of the area is just one more reason to come to Canton.  

Canton has quickly become the commercial, education, and social center of Cherokee County. Widely known for the high-quality denim produced by the Canton Textile Mills established in 1899 as the Canton Cotton Mills, this industry at its peak provided jobs for 1200 people in the area. Since the closing of the last of the two mills in 1981, Canton has survived the transition from a mill town to a city of prosperity offering an ideal location for various commercial, industrial, and residential developments.  

The Blue Ridge Mountains

Part of the region we call "Appalachia," the Blue Ridge Mountains have a rich cultural heritage that it shares not with individual states, but with other mountain areas in the this country within a country.

In Georgia, Appalachia's cultural works include the Foxfire Books, bluegrass music, the rich folk art of the mountains, and poetry. Foxfire is both a magazine and series of books published by students from northeast Georgia that chronicle the lives of the people of Appalachia and the Blue Ridge Mountains.
